T.J. Taylor
T.J. Taylor is the Executive Director of the Mississippi Cable Telecommunications Association. He oversees the day-to-day operations of the association, develops and advocates for sound internet, tax and telecommunications policies at the state legislature, and serves as spokesperson for the MCTA. T.J. also provides general consulting services to political candidates and businesses.
A native of Vicksburg, MS, T.J. grew up in Warren County and in Utica. He played football and basketball at Raymond High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Southern Mississippi, and a Juris Doctorate from Mississippi College School of Law. He served as General Counsel and Policy Advisor for Speaker of the Mississippi House of Representatives Philip Gunn and later served as Policy Director for Speaker Gunn. In those roles, he helped craft and pass into law many transformative tax, education and broadband policies; and he also assisted in passing legislation that removed Mississippi’s controversial 1894 state flag and created a flag commission to design a new state flag.
T.J. was named one of Mississippi’s Top 50 influential leaders in 2020. He was also a member of the American Cancer Society’s Best Dressed Jackson 2019 fundraising class. T.J. served on the Commission to Redesign the Mississippi State Flag. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Mississippi Historical Society, is a member of the Mississippi Bar, President of the Friends of the Russell C. Davis Planetarium Board of Directors, and serves on the Board of Trustees of the Mississippi Department of Archives and History. T.J. and his wife Brittany live in Madison with their two sons Cooper and Austin.
