Our Work

Connect with us, collaborate with us, meet others who want community change. We serve as connectors, collaborators, and conveners, helping individuals, organizations, and communities identify new ways to use their financial, social, and intellectual capital to create transformation where they live.

We support communities across Mississippi through meaningful partnerships with donors, businesses, nonprofits, philanthropic organizations, and our sister community foundations.

The Community Foundation for Mississippi grew out of community: everyday people sharing their hopes, dreams, and ideas for a brighter future. So, whether your dream is to clean up your community or leave a gift that will give forever to your favorite nonprofit organization, church, or school, CFM is here to help you make a lasting difference for the causes you care most about.

CFM is a 501(c)3 nonprofit public charity that helps transform generosity into impact to create a stronger future for the people of Central and Southwest Mississippi. Our mission is to connect donors, communities, and nonprofit organizations to make meaningful and lasting change – for Mississippi, for good. Forever.

CFM was founded in 1994 to serve the capital area and was called The Greater Jackson Community Foundation. In 2017 the Foundation changed its name to the Community Foundation for Mississippi and expanded the footprint to cover twenty-two counties in central and southwest Mississippi.

The Foundation is nationally accredited and currently manages over 250 Funds and $84 million in a combination of endowed and non-endowed assets. Grants from these funds may be made to any 501c3 in the United States or for charitable projects.
