Vice President for Philanthropy

Theresa Erickson has over 30 years of experience in leadership and management both in the private and public sectors.  She is a value-driven visionary leader who has a passion to bring about positive change in communities.

She recently joined the Community Foundation for Mississippi serving as the Vice President of Philanthropy where she will build relationships with professional advisors, charitably minded individuals and businesses who want to leave a legacy to enhance the quality of life in their communities.  In addition, she will plan, execute and lead a comprehensive effort to grow the Foundation.

She started her career in Community Foundation work in 2009 as the first Executive Director of the PineBelt Community Foundation.  In this role she was responsible for growing the Foundation from a volunteer-run Foundation to a Foundation with over 200 Funds and $6 million in assets.  She also served as the Development Director of the Community Foundation for Northwest Mississippi.

Previous to nonprofit work, Theresa served as the Business Development Director at Hattiesburg Clinic, a multi-specialty group practice with 300 providers.  In this role she was responsible for all strategic planning, marketing, advertising, and public relations for all physician specialty departments.  In addition, she developed a physician referral services program.

She has a passion for helping nonprofits become sustainable.  Her volunteer work includes serving on numerous nonprofit Boards including:  American Red Cross, United Way, YMCA, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and the Pine Belt Animal Shelter.

Ms. Erickson received her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Lubbock Christian University and her Master’s degree in Communication from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas.  She has also received the Certified Marketing Executive (CME) status by Sales and marketing Executives International’s Accreditation Institute.

In addition to work, she enjoys yoga, biking, kayaking, photography, gardening (or playing in the dirt), and hanging out with her two dogs.
